Youngsters at a new Sunderland nursery have been getting lessons in supporting the local community.

The children at Nurserytime Sunderland staged their own Harvest Festival celebrations - collecting food for County Durham and Sunderland Foodbank.

As well as gathering up food for the charities, the youngsters also helped to pack the crates when volunteers from the charity came to collect them.

Nursery manager, Helen Coulson, says Harvest Festival was an opportunity for children to learn about a range of social issues.
