Berlin Heroes back - Bowie's DAM band reunite after 40 years

David Bowie's "Berlin trilogy" was the most experimental period of his career, seeing him delve into krautrock, electronic music and ambient sounds.

While the concluding part, Lodger, was mostly recorded in Switzerland, significant parts of Low and Heroes, both released in 1977, were recorded just a stone's throw away from the Berlin wall at Hansa Studios, after Bowie had moved to the German city with former Stooges frontman Iggy Pop in a bid to clean up together.

Key to shaping the sound of those records was the DAM Trio, made up of guitarist Carlos Alomar, bassist George Murray and the late Dennis Davies, the group's drummer.
