It’s all about standards for United boss Amorim

RUBEN Amorim stressed the importance of maintaining high performance levels as Manchester United make today's "tough" trip to Fulham.

A promising, unbeaten first preseason under the meticulous Portuguese was followed by a clear upturn in performance as the rebuilding Red Devils kicked off their Premier League campaign last Sunday.

United impressed against Arsenal but it proved to be a tale of two goalkeepers, with Altay Bayindir's early blunder capitalised on and the hosts unable to find a way past inspired David Raya.

Amorim took heart from the 1-0 Old Trafford loss to the perennial Premier League runners-up and wants a similarly high level of performance at Fulham.

Asked if United's performance gave him confidence or areas to focus on going forward, the Portuguese said: "Both things. I think we did well, we played well, but there is a lot of things that we need to improve.
