Ale enthusiast started his challenge back in 1984
CHEERS! A stalwart ale enthusiast who has devoted over four decades to experiencing the world’s longest pub journey is celebrating a monumental 24,000th tavern visit.
Peter Hill marked the milestone by enjoying a pint at Dudley's Elephant & Castle in West Midlands, having reached this impressive landmark on June 20.
Since launching his epic endeavour back in 1984, when a pint could be enjoyed for just 64p, Peter has chalked up an astonishing 400,000 miles and downed roughly 60,000 pints.
Known alongside his buddies as the Black Country Ale Tairsters, Peter sparked their pub pilgrimage out of a desire for variety beyond their usual haunt.
Peter made it into the annals of pub aficionados by searching high and low across Britain, averaging visits to 11 pubs weekly, with a goal to frequent every establishment listed in the CAMRA guide.
The determined dad-of-two, from West Bromwich, has proudly sipped in every pub across Wales and explored a pub in each county of the UK.
On his extraordinary social quest, Peter reflected: "It's been a great adventure and I've met some amazing people along the way.
"I'm not sure if I'll ever stop, as I still really enjoy it. There’s still hundreds of pubs to go, so I'll keep on going while I can."
