TOMMY McDERMOTT helped get Steven Pressley's Dundee reign off to a winning start only to be immediately recalled by Burnley.
The midfielder had been on trial with the Dark Blues but the EPL new boys have triggered an extension in his deal and taken him back for their pre-season.
New signing Drey Wright scored direct from a corner and 20-year-old McDermott netted the second.
Boss Pressley said: “He scored a good goal but Burnley have called him back.
“He's driving down the road today. He is one they want to use this summer but we'll see what happens at the end of the window.
“He could possibly come back up. Tommy showed his quality today.
“The feeling is we are 100 miles from where we want to be. I said to the players before the game I got my wish because it was windy.
“I quite like adversity in pre-season and teams are built on it. Sometimes when everything is perfect you don't get a challenge. This was a good challenge and we got a good reaction from the group.
