BILLY GILMOUR has backed Scott McTominay to rediscover his mojo and prove he’s still the player who was nominated among the world’s best for the Ballon d'Or.

Scotland's talisman was shut out of the game against Greece on Thursday, with pundits claiming he’s lost his stardust in Italy having netted just once this season.

It’s a far cry from the freescoring midfielder who swept to Serie As Most Valuable Player award after arriving from Manchester United last year.

But Gilmour says his Napoli club-mate will shut the critics up and insists he is still adored in Naples. He said: “Of course he is. From last season, he's MVP of the league and scored so many goals, winning goals for us in games.
