Challenge crosses the border for Combe test
South Wales Evening Post
|November 26, 2025
THE Maesteg & District Motor Club-organised TCS Plant Rally Challenge that has long raised funds for the Wales Air Ambulance now heads across the Severn for the Castle Combe race circuit, which for many years was run by Swansea man Howard Strawford and his family.

Now under new ownership the track continues that success, and the 2024 visit by the TCS Plant Rally Challenge and Micra Challenge is repeated, running on November 29.
The balance between the two types of competition again opened the two championships to a wider entry, and again attracted more than 100 contenders within the six gravel and six sealed surface rallies, with the best seven scores to count toward Championship points.
Last year’s event was the first rally to be held at the circuit since the Lombard RAC Rally in the early 1980s and was very much a learning curve with more powerful modern cars now attaining far higher speeds.
