Taking Kasi Flavour to the next level

The name Isaac Kungwane needs no introduction to South African football fans.

Taking Kasi Flavour to the next level

The late former Kaizer Chiefs midfield maestro dazzled crowds with his silky kasi flavour skills and defence-splitting passes during his heyday. His son, Kabelo, is following in the footsteps of his late father, not for what he does on the pitch but for what he does off it. For Kabelo Kungwane's Kasi Flavour10, the last two years have been eventful. He has attended the Africa Cup of Nations, collaborated with legends like Djibril Cisse, honoured his late father's influence, and worked with Carling Black Label to design the Carling Knockout All-Star team's jersey, among other exciting projects and collaborations. In this interview with Soccer Laduma's Lusanda Luthuli, Kungwane spoke candidly about the above-mentioned assignments, staying true to his passion and mission to uphold South African football history through culture, art, and fashion. Kasi Flavour10 has helped transcend and reclaim South Africa's football culture and heritage. Deeply rooted in the nation's football history, Kasi Flavour10 bridges the gap between Mzansi's past and present b archiving and preserving its rich football culture and legacies.

Rubbing shoulders with the legends

Creative director Kabelo Kungwane, son of the late Kaizer Chiefs midfield maestro, Isaac "Shakes" Kungwane, founded Kasi Flavour10 to be a creative agency that merges fashion, photography, and design to honour South Africa's football culture.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast saw Kungwane go on a mission to discover the football cultures of our continental neighbours and draw parallels between how the rest of Africa consumes and embraces the Beautiful Game, similarly to South Africans.

Adams faces race against time

Jayden Adams' international future hangs in the balance, and the countdown has officially begun. With just one month remaining before Hugo Broos finalises his squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, the 24-year-old midfielder finds himself in a position few would have predicted two years ago. Once a rising star of Stellenbosch FC and a standout performer at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast, Adams now faces the harsh reality of reduced game time at Mamelodi Sundowns and uncertainty around his Bafana Bafana role. The player who earned his way into Broos' plans through hard work and consistency has slipped into unfamiliar territory at club level, and his national team prospects have dimmed as a result. The Siya crew has been tracking his situation closely, uncovering worrying signs behind the scenes as Adams fights to keep his AFCON dream alive.
