THEMBELA SIKHAKHANE - UNATTACHED (PART 2)

- By Tshepang Mailwane

Hola Thembela, thanks for joining us for Part Two of In Touch. You've played with some interesting characters along the way, such as Thamsanqa Gabuza, but there are probably a lot more you can tell us about. Where do you want to start this week?

Thanks for having me again, my brother. There is a story I can remember from my time at AmaZulu FC, ha, ha, ha.

After sharing the story of Wayde Jooste last week, we are looking forward to what you have to tell us this time...

There was a time when “Shaka” (Sphelele Mthembu) was busy in the toilet. He was doing number two. It was just before training, early in the morning. I don't remember if it was Makhehlene Makhaula or “Section 10” (Thabo Qalinge), but one of them took a picture of Shaka while he was still in the toilet, ha, ha, ha. Imagine!

Ha, ha, ha. For real? That's crazy...

Yes, ha, ha, ha. So, when I arrived, I found the guys laughing there and they showed me the picture that they took while “Shaka” was in the toilet, ha, ha, ha. They gave me the picture, but they didn't know that I wasn't afraid to post that picture in the team's WhatsApp group. So, that's what I did, ha, ha, ha.

You're joking! You actually posted the picture in the group?

Yes, I did.

Adams faces race against time

Jayden Adams' international future hangs in the balance, and the countdown has officially begun. With just one month remaining before Hugo Broos finalises his squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, the 24-year-old midfielder finds himself in a position few would have predicted two years ago. Once a rising star of Stellenbosch FC and a standout performer at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast, Adams now faces the harsh reality of reduced game time at Mamelodi Sundowns and uncertainty around his Bafana Bafana role. The player who earned his way into Broos' plans through hard work and consistency has slipped into unfamiliar territory at club level, and his national team prospects have dimmed as a result. The Siya crew has been tracking his situation closely, uncovering worrying signs behind the scenes as Adams fights to keep his AFCON dream alive.
