EMOTIONAL MAN BATTLES TO SUMMIT OF SNOWDON FOR CHARITY CLOSE TO HIS HEART

- By DEBORAH HALL

£7,000 raised for charity: 'I was crying and my eyes nearly froze, it was that cold'

A STEEL worker who decided to walk from Scunthorpe to Snowdon, spurred on by the memories of two cherished people, has succeeded in the challenge despite pushing his body to the limit.

Jordan Wharton, 29, was in high spirits after managing to summit Wales’ highest mountain in dreadful weather conditions, so poor that other more experienced hikers were urging him not to continue.

With thoughts of the many sponsors supporting him in the challenge, and the inspiration behind it, Jordan pushed to the top, on Sunday, July 6.

“When we got there, I said to my brother, if we hadn’t been doing it for the reason we were, we'd have turned around,” said Jordan, who was joined for the final stint of his walk by his brother, Sam.

“It’s because of this [hiking for the UK Sepsis Trust] that we carried on.

“It was very, very emotional when we reached the top of Snowdon.
