Village residents create stunning poppy cascade

VILLAGERS have come together to create a beautiful handmade poppy cascade.

Along with the full-sized 'Tommy' sitting on the bench outside Flixborough Village Hall, the display will remain in place through November.

The 'thankful' village suffered no losses in the wars and came together as a community to create the beautiful display.

The Mayor of North Lincolnshire, Councillor Carol Ross, attended to reveal the display and a bugler played The Last Post during the unveiling.

Organiser Tina Ashenden said: "I've always wanted to be involved in the community and it was just something nice for the village and to help bring the community together.

"In both world wars no one was lost in this village but obviously we want to remember those that were lost.
