IF YOU’RE a fan of Richard Osman’s Thursday Murder Club books set in a retirement village, you may be going to the cinema today to see the new film based on his first book, or perhaps counting down the days until it’s available on Netflix next Thursday. It’s certainly causing quite a stir at real retirement villages.

When they met ...it was Murder

In the novel, four residents form a club to solve a murder, which may not be a true reflection of the clubs real residents set up - such as gardening, wine tasting and book clubs — but that hasn’t stopped staff from organising many Thursday Murder Club-related events.

Residents at Rangeford Villages have been enjoying Murder A Curry nights, Murder On The Dancefloor dance classes and Murder Mystery games.

Staff have even created Murder Club-themed cocktails and mocktails such as Cold Case Cosmo and they’ve been holding murder mystery film nights this month as well as special book clubs.

“Our owners are huge fans of the book, so we are marking the film release with a set of fun and immersive events,” says Amanda Valentine, head of marketing at Rangeford Villages.
