GERS STAR BRANDS BRUGGE RETURN AND OLD FIRM DERBY ‘SEASON-DEFINING’

- By Ronnie Esplin

JOE ROTHWELL admits this week could define the rest of Rangers’ season as they attempt to get over a stuttering start.

Russell Martin’s side were unconvincing again in the 1-1 draw with St Mirren in Paisley at the weekend to make it just three points from the first three Premiership fixtures and could fall nine points behind Old Firm rivals Celtic when they meet at Ibrox on Sunday.

However, first is the second leg of the Champions League playoff against Club Brugge in Belgium tomorrow night where the Govan club have to somehow overturn a 3-1 deficit from the first game.

Rothwell was taken off in the second half at Ibrox, with boos from the increasingly frustrated home support at the end of the game piling the pressure on boss Martin ahead of two huge matches.
