NHS Fife's refusal to confirm probe of patient details leak is 'selective'

NHS Fife has been accused of a “selective, inconsistent and biased” approach to confidentiality after refusing to confirm if an investigation had been launched into an apparent leak of patient details.

The health board is embroiled in an employment tribunal with nurse Sandie Peggie, who was suspended after objecting to trans medic Dr Beth Upton’s presence in the female changing rooms at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.

A second phase of court hearings concluded last week with damaging revelations of Ms Peggie’s use of racist and offensive language on a WhatsApp chat of nurses.

Lindsay Nicoll, an emergency nursing practitioner, revealed details of Ms Peggie’s contributions to the ‘Benidorm’ group, including racist jokes about the 2022 floods in Pakistan.
