National Guard, 20, dies after shooting

DONALD Trump paid tribute to the “magnificent” National Guard soldier who died after being shot near the White House.

The US president announced Sarah Beckstrom, 20, had succumbed to her injuries, while second Guardsman Andrew Wolfe, 24, who was also hit, “is fighting for his life”. Both were shot at close range on Wednesday afternoon.

The soldiers had been sworn into the reservist National Guard hours earlier and volunteered to work Thanksgiving as part of a crackdown on crime.
