Comeback star Al is stand-in’s biggest fan

Colby Donovan didn't look out of place as he lined up for Celtic against Red Star in the cauldron of Belgrade

The Canadian right-back is on the comeback trail after tearing his hamstring in the first leg of the Champions League playoff exit to Kairat Almaty.

Johnston is on track to return in November and regular backup Anthony Ralston has slotted in during his absence.

But it’s been the impact made by teenager Colby Donovan that's really caught his eye when Ralston was also out injured.

Donovan was a top performer in the 1-1 Europa League draw with Red Star in Belgrade last month and Johnston, below, is thrilled to see a young Scot bursting on to the scene.

He said: “He's been great. I think the biggest thing that stuck out to everyone about Colby is his personality, but I don't think that was ever in question.
