A DONATION from a well-known housebuilder has enabled Widnes Historical Society to promote its work as it looks to welcome a new generation of members.

The society was founded in 1951 and is one of the oldest community groups in Widnes.
It aims to share knowledge of local history in Widnes and the surrounding area.
Gillian Wynne-Parle, treasurer of the society, said: “Redrow’s donation has been used to print flyers and arrange delivery of them to every home in the WA8 postcode.
