REFORM UK triumphed with a landslide victory in the Lancashire County Council elections and have taken overall control of the county council.

Sweeping victory for Reform in council ballots

It was announced last Friday Reform UK won an overall majority in Lancashire after voters went to the polls last Thursday.

The party won 53 of the 84 seats up for grabs across Lancashire County Council with elections taking place once every four years.

Conservatives followed with eight seats while Independents gained seven seats.

Labour and Liberal Democrats secured five seats while the Green Party gained four and Our West Lancashire gained two seats.

Ahead of the 2025 election, the Conservatives were in control of the county council, with 48 seats.

Reform UK had a sweeping victory across Rossendale except in Rossendale West where Labour's Samara Barnes siezed victory.

Seats on Lancashire County Council were up for grabs across the district including Mid-Rossendale, Rossendale East, Rossendale South, Ros sendale West, Whitworth and Bacup.

Rossendale and Darwen's Reform UK candidate, Daniel Matchett, who won Whitworth and Bacup, said: "Winning four seats in Rossendale is a fantastic result for Reform UK and a clear signal that people are tired of being ignored.

"Voters want common sense politics, not more of the same.

"Now it's time to drain the swamp, get rid of the waste, find the savings and get things done.
