Dozens of drivers snared in police crackdown

DOZENS of people have been hit with fines for motoring offences after speeding hotspots were targeted by police in a crackdown operation.

Officers from Rossendale Neighbourhood Policing Team were out across ten different locations in the borough to tackle speeding concerns following issues raised about road safety by residents.

It included Manchester Road in Haslingden, Burnley Road in Weir and Booth Road in Edgeside after all had been identified as hotpot locations for concern on the police community messaging service Lancashire Talking.

The operation was carried throughout last Friday and into the evening and resulted in the following:

• 11 tickets issued for those speeding

• Three tickets issued to those without wearing a seatbelt

• Two traffic offence reports
