Civic pride appeals with major challenges ahead

CIVIC Pride Rossendale are putting out an urgent appeal for more volunteers to help them achieve some major challenges this year.

They need extra help as they have entered the Royal Horticultural Society’s Britain in Bloom competition and hope to achieve the highest marks again.

This year they have entered many of the larger flower beds in Rawtenstall and Sparrow Park/Library gardens.

One volunteer Ian Hoskins who works at the Trickett’s Memorial Ground in Waterfoot said: "I am the first to say I'm not a gardener but volunteering gives me the opportunity to work outdoors and support the gardeners.
