Transport for some faith school pupils could be withdrawn
Retford Times
|November 27, 2025
NOTTINGHAMSHIRE County Council could look to withdraw free school transport for some pupils attending faith schools in a bid to save nearly £1 million.
-
The Reform-led authority announced its plans earlier in November of how it was going to try to save at least £45 million over the next three years.
November cabinet papers note how the authority intends to find £45.3 million in "mitigations" as it faces a £15.9 million budget shortfall by 2028/29. In June, the freshly elected Reform council embarked on its months-long efficiency review to see where it could save cash within areas such as adult social care and children's services - this is still ongoing.
