Fresh and reinvigorating packages of ideas were on display at conference

Last week, I returned from a reinvigorating Labour party annual conference.

- BY PAISLEY AND RENFREWSHIRE SOUTH MP JOHANNA BAXTER

Just over a year into government, it was incredible to see just how fresh, enthusiastic and full of ideas everyone at conference was to continue delivering the change our country needs.

With conference came great opportunities to highlight the issues that are impacting our communities in Paisley and Renfrewshire South.

I was glad to speak to Chris McDonald MP, our dedicated Minister for Industry, in the wake of the serious cyber attack that affected Jaguar Land Rover and massively impacted the businesses that supply them - businesses like our own great local employer The Scottish Leather Group.

I’m proud that our UK Labour government has backed Jaguar Land Rover with a support package, including a loan guarantee that will unlock up to £1.5 billion to help stabilise their supply chain and top of my agenda was to press the minister for further protections for our local suppliers.
