Timetables under 'constant review' as bosses eye changes

TRAM timetables will be under "constant review" next year as operators recover from drivers off with flu and vehicles being out of action.

The boss of Nottingham's tram network says performance "hasn't been as good as it should be" in recent months, but that the ambition remains to make permanent timetable changes to better serve the city.

One of the main issues affecting the network this year has been the number of trams badly damaged in crashes.

Tim Hesketh, CEO of Tramlink, cites one of the starkest examples as tram number 207, struck by a car being pursued by police in Talbot Street in February.

The damage was so severe that the vehicle had to be taken to Derby for specialist repair work, and it has only just returned to Nottingham, although it is not scheduled to enter service again until January - almost a year after the crash.
