A DAD-OF-THREE carried out what a judge called “a prolonged, persistent and vicious” attack on his mistress by kicking and punching her repeatedly in her head and body.

Man punched, kicked and strangled mistress in vicious attack

Aqib Arif

Aqib Arif’s victim only found out he was a married father eight months into their relationship when they returned from a holiday in Tenerife, where he hospitalised her in a previous assault.

The hearing was told the drunk university graduate would not accept their relationship was over and on the second occasion followed the woman out of her bedroom and started assaulting her, dragging her to the floor by her hair and strangling her.

Now he is tasting custody for the first time at the age of 35.

Jailing him for three years at Nottingham Crown Court, Judge Tina Dempster said: “She described your relationship initially in positive terms, describing you as ‘a lovely man’ But after eight months you revealed, in my judgement, your true colours.

“You were on holiday in Tenerife when you assaulted her and hospitalised her and you were convicted of that in Spain.
