New phase for housing at old bus depot site

BUILDING work is about to start on the next phase of a Beeston housing development at the former Barton Buses depot in the town.

The Barton Quarter is a site off Queens Road West that previously housed the depot owned by the Barton family since 1913.

The overall site is the subject of a masterplan for a total of 221 homes and work on the first phase of 30 houses began in 2021, with residents moving in from 2022.

The style of the new development has been likened to a “posh London square”.

Cameron Homes has now acquired the next phase of the development for £35m and work on the second phase of 93 houses and apartments is expected to start early next year.
