New £10m fleet of vans will help speed up repairs

NOTTINGHAM City Council's housing vans have deteriorated so much that the authority is spending up to £360,000 on a contract for hire vehicles.

The Labour-run authority is about to transition to a new fleet of housing vans but, in the meantime, the council says carrying on without a contract for hire vehicles would affect appointments for property maintenance and repairs.
The city council previously blamed its “ageing fleet” for taking too long to carry out housing repairs and it is spending £10 million to completely replace the 341-strong fleet of vans.
