Black and white and blood red all over

I DO like a musical with a dark side. All the more compelling if it parades a seedy tale of murder, menace, duplicity and corruption, alongside foot-tapping show tunes.

Chicago, of course, fills those criteria to the brim. Based on true events which made headlines in the crime-ridden US city in the Roaring Twenties, the story of two femmes fatales who seek to turn their murderous deeds into fame and fortune, is told through the eyes of newspaper "sob sister" Mary Sunshine (Jordan Lee Davies), satirising the decadent heart of public life, and death, in the Windy City.
