200 jobs could be lost at university in latest plans, union claims

MORE than 200 jobs could be lost at the University of Nottingham as part of its latest reorganisation plans, a union has claimed.

Last month, members of the University and College Union (UCU) launched “large-scale” industrial action against the Russell Group university in response to staff restructuring that is cutting hundreds of roles.

Teaching, academic and support staff began striking on September 22, coinciding with the first teaching week of the new academic year, and are scheduled to carry on until the middle of December.

The action has led to the widespread cancellation of lectures for both new and returning university students.
