Toss proves pivotal in Holmes Chapel defeat

THE Fifths were asked to bat first by home side Holmes Chapel who won the toss and it’s fair to say that decision was the right one.

Macc struggled from the off as opening bowlers Logan and Reilly ran through the top and middle order.

There was some resistance from Ramesh Thayumanavan who top scored with 13, the only double figure score of the innings, but Macc’s total of 42 was way below par.

Holmes Chapel raced to the target with little fuss, winning in the seventh over of their reply and the only highlight for Macc was a wicket for JJ Harrison to make it a nine-wicket win for the home team rather than a 10-wicket win.
