LEWIS DENIES LANDMARK WIN

AMMANFORD set a new club landmark, but still fell short against reigning South Wales Premier Cricket League champions St Fagans.

The home side scored more than 300 runs in consecutive weeks for the first time in their history, but it was not enough to derail the Stags as they look to retain their crown.

After being put in to bat, Ammanford got off to a fine start with an opening stand of 60 before Gruffudd Owen (29) was dismissed in the 14th over.

The middle order continued the good work with an outstanding partnership of 123 between opener Daniel Roberts (74) and Matthew Spoors, who batted superbly but fell four short of what would have been an excellent century.

Further stands of 43 between Spoors and Dylan Driscoll (45) and 62 between Driscoll and Jac Kenchington (43 not out) enabled Ammanford to reach a formidable total of 315-6.

Owen Morgan and Rhodri Lewis bagged two wickets each for St Fagans.
