Report outlines a need to meet fiscal challenges

A "TIGHTER" fiscal stance in next month's Budget is needed, according to an economic think tank.

The Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) also called for targeted expenditure to address challenges in the delivery of housing and infrastructure.

There is a planned package of €9.4bn for Budget 2026 - including €7.9bn in additional public spending and €1.5 billion in the tax package.

The Budget will be delivered by Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe and Minister for Public Expenditure Jack Chambers on October 7.
