Phone has lots of Plus points

Hot on the heels of the current battery and performance champ, the OnePlus 15, comes the slightly less powerful but much more affordable OnePlus 15R that goes on sale today.

I've been lucky enough to have been testing the 15R since before Christmas and, spoiler alert, it offers tremendous value for a handset currently costing only €699 for 512GB of storage and 12GB of RAM.That compares to the current €999 price for OnePlus 15 for the same amount of storage.

But, as you'd expect, any phone shaving €300 off the price of its sibling is going to come with some compromises. However, there are a couple of specs which surpass those on offer on OnePlus 15. Here's what I found during testing...

Instead of the high-end Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 system-on-a-chip (SoC), we have the first phone driven by the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC, which is clocked up here to 3.8GHz.

There's a decent cooling system built in that ensures sustained performance during marathon gaming sessions.
