Tanaiste’s Iraq talk to get Irish dad freed 'before it's too late'

EFFORTS to have Roscommon dad Robert Pether released by Iraq have intensified with the Tanaiste Simon Harris holding top-level talks to lobby for his freedom.

Mr Harris, who is also Foreign Affairs Minister, talked by phone with his Iraqi counterpart yesterday to highlight Rob's incarceration since April 2021.

His wife Desree told this newspaper she did not know about the call but thanked the Government and Mr Harris for all their efforts "before it is too late".
