Cop is sentenced for sexual offences

A Dumfries policeman who was found guilty of two sexual offences including making sexual remarks to a female officer on a work night out has been placed on the Sex Offenders'

Register for six months and ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.Michael Scott, 36, was told by a sheriff at the town's sheriff court the sentence was an alternative to a jail term.
Scott had previously been found guilty of repeatedly slapping the woman's buttocks at pubs in the town, and elsewhere, plus making remarks of a sexual nature towards the victim.
The offences took place at a police leaving do on May 25 this year at The Imperial in Queensberry Street, the Hole in the Wa' on the High Street, and elsewhere.
Scott had denied both charges but was convicted after a one day trial.
The victim gave evidence from behind a screen as she recounted the evening of May 25 this year when off duty police staged a night out for colleagues leaving.
They were in town centre pubs Robert the Bruce, Imperial Bar and Hole I' the Wa'.
