Warning issued by Met Office as region set for downpours

HEAVY rain is set to batter the East Midlands over the weekend as the Met Office has warned properties could be flooded.

A yellow weather warning for rain will come into force across the region from today at 6am and remain in place until midnight.
Travel disruption and flooding may result from the bad weather, with heavy rain to hit Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire and their respective cities.
The Met Office said: "Rain, heavy at times, is expected to develop across southwest England on Friday night and spread northeastward during Saturday before clearing into the North Sea on Saturday night.
