Ward is head first to launch Rams to win against Swans

DERBY County returned to winning ways in the Championship last night as they won 2-1 away against Swansea City.

Joe Ward headed the Rams in front in the 34th minute and Lars-Jorgen Salvesen, on his first start this season, fired home a second eight minutes after the break.

Ethan Galbraith scored a late consolation for the Swans in the 90th minute but the Rams bagged the three points.

Danny Batth started in the Rams defence in the absence of suspended Dion Sanderson, while centre-back Curtis Nelson, who had spent a long spell on the sidelines after suffering an ACL tear in January, was on the bench.

A request was made for Nelson to be added to the 25-man squad list in place of Liverpool loanee Owen Beck, who last weekend underwent surgery on his injured hamstring, and this was accepted.
