THOUSANDS of children have been groomed online within the last five years, fresh figures have revealed.

A total of 3158 Communicating Indecently with a Child offences have been recorded by Police Scotland since 2020.

The NSPCC says online child sexual abuse crimes can have a long-term impact on a child, leaving them with feelings of guilt, shame, depression, confusion, anxiety and fear.
