Two brothers appeared 'hard working and pleasant'. Then truth came out

TWO brothers offering gardening and gutter clearing services were actually stealing jewellery from vulnerable and elderly people.

- By STEVE BAGNALL

Michael and Jamie Parry were thought of as “hard working and pleasant”, but secretly stole from properties between October and December 2024, a court heard today [Monday].

Michael Parry, 40, of Tyddyn Uchaf, Llangernyw, stole from three properties, while Jamie Parry, 27, of Rhodfa Phil Evans, Llanrwst, was involved in thefts from two of them.

Joshua Gorst, prosecuting, told Caernarfon Crown Court one of the victims, who was aged 88 and lived on Moor Park, Abergele, was in a cafe in October 2024 and was looking for someone to clear her guttering. Her friend recommended Michael Parry and coincidentally there was a business card with his name on there.

She rang the number and Michael and Jamie Parry started working for her.

One of the brothers was said to have used the toilet for “a long time”.

The victim also recommended them to other neighbours, but Michael Parry would often knock on her door to use the toilet, taking about five minutes at a time, although she thought the two were “genuinely looking out for her”.
