Treble from Jordan helps TNS extend lead at top

JORDAN WILLIAMS hat-trick was at the heart of a devastatingly clinical 6-2 home win for JD Cymru Premier leaders The New Saints over Penybont as they opened up a six-point gap at the top of the table.

Penybont arrived at Park Hall as the nearest rivals to the reigning champions but were second best throughout a game that saw the home side score three goals in each half.

The visitors did at least get on the scoresheet, but with a second goal coming in added time at the end of the game these were merely consolation scores.

This was an eighth win in a row for TNS and extended their unbeaten run to a dozen matches.

Williams struck twice in the first half and then in the 61st minute to make it 11 goals in 12 games this season.

That took him past last season’s tally of 10 in 29 outings.

The other goals for TNS came from a Ryan Brobbel penalty, Dan Williams and Jack Nadin. Owain Warlow and James Crole grabbed the goals for Penybont.

Connah’s Quay Nomads made it nine goals and nine points in the space of seven days as they went to Briton Ferry Llansawel and picked up a 3-0 win to stay in contention for a top-three place.

Hot on the heels of their 3-0 home win over Llanelli Town and then a 3-1 triumph at Bala Town earlier in the week, the Nomads were at it again with another triple.
