Slot admits 'I am definitely not enjoying this situation' as he attempts to avoid the dispute with Salah turning into 'a circus'

ARNE SLOT says he is aiming to avoid “a circus” around Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool situation when the Premier League champions host Brighton this afternoon.

And the Reds boss admits he has not enjoyed the last few days at the club after Salah conducted a bombshell interview after Saturday's 3-3 draw with Leeds United, where he accused the club of being “thrown under the bus”.

Salah was an unused substitute for the Elland Road encounter and began on the bench for the third successive game after previously starting 53 successive league fixtures for the Reds.

The clearly disgruntled forward laid bare his frustrations after the match, claiming his relationship with Slot had broken down.

But after being left out of Tuesday night’s squad for the trip to Inter in the Champions League, talks were held yesterday between the pair to establish where the two parties go next.

“The biggest factor is [to] do the best for the team and for the club," Slot said.

“I haven't said this before but I can say I am definitely not enjoying this situation. It’s not like I'm happy we are in this situation by far.

“We have won the league together and he has done so much for the club.

Ideally you are not in a situation like this with your player.
