AN ANGLESEY man has been spared jail after breaching a restraining order not to contact a man.

William Hughes turned up in the man’s street and told him he would “burn down” his house and car.

Hughes admitted breaching the restraining order in Holyhead. A judge at Caernarfon Crown Court yesterday sentenced Hughes, 53, to six months in prison, suspended for 12 months.

Hughes had been given the restraining order lasting until 2033 prohibiting him from contacting a Jason Connolly. It came after Hughes was convicted of assault, causing criminal damage and other offences and was jailed for 27 months in May, 2023.

But at 8.10pm on October 16 this year Mr Connolly - who lives in Hughes’ partner's street, Lower Park Street in Holyhead - went out to his car to get his wallet.

As he was walking back to his house he heard a voice, said Catherine Elvin, prosecuting.
