Legal review into convictions of dead crooked racist detective

JUSTICE watchdogs are reviewing the convictions of three more people feared to have been fitted up by Britain's most corrupt cop.

Det Sgt Derek Ridgewell - who died in prison aged 37 -is thought to have framed dozens of innocent black men during a racist campaign in the 1970s.

A British Transport Police review in 2020 concluded they were unable to identify any further cases Ridgewell and his colleagues were involved in due to the passage of time and missing records.

But the Mirror can reveal another three convictions are being looked at by the Criminal Case Review Commission.
