‘Statement on football report was insensitive’

A POLICE chief executive has said sorry for a statement made in response to a report into the Hillsborough disaster.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) found 12 officers involved would have faced charges of gross misconduct if they were still serving.

The tragedy on April 15, 1989, at the FA cup semifinal between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest at Sheffield Wednesday's stadium led to the deaths of 97 Liverpool fans.
