(Boycott made a century).

Over the next two decades, Dickie officiated in 66 Tests - a record at the time - and 69 One Day Internationals, including three World Cup finals.

He was reduced to tears by a guard of honour from the players at his last Test, England v India at Lord's in 1996, and his last professional game came two years later. Sir Geoffrey said: "He had a way of diffusing situations. He was rated all over the world as the best."

Dickie was made an MBE in 1986 and an OBE in 2012, honours which meant the world to him.

He also recalled being invited for lunch with the late Queen Elizabeth II in 1990.
