Health Secretary Wes Streeting says he is doing all he can to ensure there are no more doctors’ strikes as talks continue over Christmas. Do MPs even care about the NHS and overworked doctors? You say...

- Edited by JACKIE ANNETT

WES Streeting tells us it's the fault of the doctors, but he earns around £161,000 as Health Secretary, compared to a junior doctor starting salary of nearly £39,000 (rising to £70,000 plus after years of service). You have to ask questions about his judgment.

Becoming a junior doctor requires years of training whereas Streeting’s path involved a history degree, charity leadership, and a decade in politics as an MP, with no equivalent medical training, MPs get a guaranteed, no questions asked pay rise every year, too.

In April 2025 they got a 2.8% rise, which will probably be increased in 2026.

So, when you hear him speak about there not being enough to pay the doctors, just ask yourself why is there always enough for MPs?
