After Barbie I thought, 'Everyone has seen enough of me for the minute'

- BY KATIE BEGLEY

I'm in a mode now where I want to play characters I see myself in as opposed to hide myself in

Margot Robbie made it on to the Hollywood A-list at the age of just 22 when she starred Leonardo opposite DiCaprio in 2013 hit The Wolf of Wall Street and after playing the title role in Barbie in 2023 she was named the highest-paid actress in the world.

But as she promotes her latest movie, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, she admits she suffers from impostor syndrome, fearing her career could come crashing down at any time.

Margot, 35 says: "Is there a moment where I thought it was all sorted now? No, I think every time I'm like, 'Oh, God, it's all going to be taken away, I won't get to do this again, this is the last time.

"I have this complete crisis of faith every time, 'What am I doing?' I freak out every time. I care so much, for sure."

And the Australian actress, whose first big role was in Neighbours in 2008, confesses she is now so fearful of losing her Hollywood career, she refuses to perform in her native accent.

She was offered the chance in A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, but balked at the idea. She says: "Do you know what? Our director actually said, 'Do you want to do this in your Aussie accent?'.

"It's been so long since I've acted in my Aussie accent, I'm scared I don't know how to do it now.
