Blizzard leaves 1,000 trapped

RESCUERS on Mount Everest are trying to reach nearly 1,000 people trapped in a snowstorm.

Hundreds of villagers and rescue teams have been deployed to clear snow blocking access to the area in Tibet which is 16,000 feet up.

Chinese media said some have already been rescued.
