'Welcome news on growth puts us in strong position'

JEREMY Hunt said Britain was in a "strong position for growth" yesterday after a better-than-expected boost for the UK economy.

Gross domestic product rose 0.3% in November ahead of the anticipated 0.2% and turning around the 0.3% decline in October, the Office for National Statistics said.
It was driven by the wide-reaching services sector, which rose by 0.4% and was the biggest contributor to growth. Retail in particular was boosted by Black Friday sales. The Chancellor described the rise as "welcome news" but warned growth would slow "as we bring inflation back to its 2% target".
