Two of the game's biggest forward thinkers, the clubs went out on their own away from the governing body in piggybacking on to the Australian NRL's decision to bring games to America.

But where last year's opening Aussie-only event brought a good return, there was a unanimous feeling across all parties involved that this year's Vegas residency had come up aces, thanks to the trump card of the Poms.

About 11,000 fans travelled to the United States, with the clubs represented going beyond the two involved in the Super League game in what felt like a celebration of the sport.
