IT'S BEEN a blazing summer so far, so it's prime barbecue weather. If you're having people over, a little bit of early planning will help the day go smoothly. Use this simple checklist to make your barbecue party a breeze and ensure that while the food and weather are hot, your temper won't be.

PREPARE THE DAY BEFORE

Have a stress-free day by doing as much as possible in advance. Marinate meat in the fridge overnight. Pre-prepare as many sides as possible, but do your salads on the day - nobody likes a limp lettuce. Check the barbecue is working and clean. And set an alarm to remind you to take things out of the freezer the night before, because that's the thing almost everyone forgets.
